Welcome to the Talurdo Stables
Talurdo Stables, founded in 2023 by Chris Starling, is a peaceful haven for both horses and riders. Nestled in the rural Algarve mountains, we offer a quiet, serene riding experience where you’ll rarely encounter another soul. With three well-trained horses, we prioritize their well-being above all, ensuring they’re happy and well cared for. At Talurdo, it’s not just about the ride: it’s about connecting with nature and enjoying the tranquility. Plus, we’re proud to be fully solar-powered, keeping our operation as eco-friendly as possible.
The rural hamlet of Talurdo is located in the heart of nature and is a place with beautiful views of Cork oak, Pine and Eucalyptus trees, plants and shrubs. We have created a beautiful and peaceful place to enjoy nature, to relax and unplug in the peaceful setting of a formerly abandoned rural village surrounded by hills.

From my youthful days, a deep love for horses has always resonated within me. In my earlier years, I reveled in the world of hunter-jumpers and found immense joy in showcasing these magnificent animals.
Fast forward to five years ago when I bid farewell to the hustle of New York and embraced the serene beauty of the Algarve. It was then that I embarked on the journey of establishing Talurdo Retreat.
Fortunate enough to turn a cherished dream into reality, I fulfilled my lifelong passion by creating a haven for horses, enabling me to share the enchanting allure of this paradise with fellow enthusiasts.
